Knowledge is the food for the human heart
And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding (Jeremiah 3:15, KJV)
Knowledge is one of the most spiritual things in our natural world. It is both natural and spiritual and so forms an important bridge that links the spiritual world and the natural world. Another related important bridge is spoken words. Let me show you the spiritual mysteries of knowledge in this devotional.
The LORD spoke through Jeremiah and said “ I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which will feed you with knowledge and understanding”. This is such a powerful prophetic utterance for the days we are living in. These pastors will feed God’s people with spiritual food, and the LORD clearly tells us in this verse that knowledge is the spiritual food.
Why food? When you eat something, it gets into your digestive system, gets absorbed into your body, and becomes a PART OF YOU. The food eaten can then be broken down to produce energy or used to build up your muscles, etc. The food , therefore, starts EXPRESSING itself. Food therefore BUILDS YOU UP as it becomes part of you and makes it possible to EXPRESS certain functions. If you can understand this paragraph, then you will catch the full mystery of the knowledge of God.
When we know something about God in the Word, that knowledge BUILDS us up spiritually. It can build joy, peace, love, faith, healing, etc. As FOOD, the knowledge of God BUILDS UP. Furthermore, that knowledge, now part of you, makes it possible to EXPRESS certain functions and operations, such as being able to walk in faith or love. I have written a million times on the importance of feeding on the Word of God, and will write yet more a billion times about it. Many believers simply do not see why the Lord repeatedly commands us to pay attention to His Word.
I find believers struggling with many aspects of the Christian life. They want to believe God, but they find it impossible. Some struggle with lust and want to have a clean mind. Others fight anxiety and depression constantly and wonder if the joy the Bible talks about is a scam, or it is a reality. What would you say to an athlete who goes for a marathon without eating and runs out of energy and then complains to you that he or she feels exhausted and does not understand why? This is where many believers find themselves. They feed on the Word once a week or month and wonder why they are constantly depressed, fearful, spiritually exhausted, etc. I leave with Apostle Paul prayer for the Colossians
“For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding…. and increasing in the knowledge of God” (Colossians 1:9–10, KJV)
MEDITATE
Why does God call knowledge food?
APPLY THE WORD
I have just put a key into your hands to flourish in your life in all areas. Just sit on Daddy’s Table constantly and eat delicacies of heaven. Feed on the Word, believers, feed on the Word! The Church is in dire need of “pastors according to My heart..which shall feed you with knowledge” of the pure Word of God(Jer. 3:15). The Lord cause you to be restless until your heart is full to overflow constantly with the fragrance of His knowledge.
PRAY
Ask the Father to make you hungry, really hungry, for hunger drives a person to look for food!
