Do not Postpone Your Miracle
Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day (John 11:24 ,KJV)
When Jesus showed up after Lazarus had died and been buried four days earlier, He said to his sister Martha “Thy brother shall rise again” (John 11:23, KJV). I want you to put your feet in Martha’s shoes. Remember, they did not know Jesus as we know Him today. Her brother had died and was buried four days before Jesus came. When Jesus said to her that her brother would rise again, she probably thought it was just encouragement from a concerned and respected Rabbi. Her mind went to the future resurrection on the last day, as noted above. Jesus probably looked at her again and said one of the most outstanding words that ever came out of the lips of a man:
“Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live” (John 11:25, KJV)
Jesus told Martha what you are looking forward to in the future is standing right in front of you. I am the resurrection! He is the One who raises people from the dead. Martha did not need to wait for the last day to encounter the resurrection because the One who will do it is standing right in front of her!!
Isn’t it amazing how we sometimes throw off our miracles to some future date? ‘Martha’s “theology” was her problem. Her knowledge was blinding her eyes to what was before her. Have you met people who have very solid “theological reasons” why God will not do this or that in their lives? Or why a miracle will not take place?
Do not postpone your miracle! There are things which God has already ordained for you now, and there are others that require us to wait. Do not wait for what is now!
MEDITATE
Do you think there are some things God has ordained for you now which you still do not have? What might be the possible reasons? ‘Martha’s problem was her thinking shaped by her religious upbringing.
APPLY THE WORD
Jesus later told Martha, “roll away the stone”. Whatever stone that is causing you to postpone your miracle should be taken out of the way. Roll away the stone!
PRAY
Ask the Lord to help you never to postpone the blessings He has ordained for you to enjoy here and now.
