Be not carried about with diverse and strange doctrines
Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace; not with meats, which have not profited them that have been occupied therein (Hebrews 13:9 KJV)
The Church is is in dire need of spiritual maturity today. When believers are established in the faith, they effectively carry out what God has designed for them and enjoy what He has also provided. Furthermore, they are resistant to the wiles and schemes of the enemy.
The believer as an individual, just as the Church as a body, is established on the Truth as a house is built or established upon a solid foundation. Heb. 13:9 gives us a sobering exhortation and warning at the same time. The Lord tells us not to be carried about with diverse and strange doctrines. The figure here is that of a wave in the sea tossed to and fro by any winds that blow.
I have written this before and worth repeating a million times. The only way for a believer to be established in the faith is to be grounded in the Truth of the Word. The Truth will be your only protection against diverse and strange winds of doctrines that the enemy is sending against the Church.
MEDITATE
What is Truth? How do you establish yourself on the Truth? You see the devotional for Sept. 20, 2020 titled “The foundation of your life”.
APPLY THE WORD
Satan has a vested interest in doctrines, teachings, pulpits, and even Bible schools because your spiritual life hangs on the doctrines or teachings you accept. The Lord holds you personally responsible for what you believe, whether or not you were deceived willingly or mistakenly by your bible teacher, church doctrine or a false teacher. Be personally rooted and grounded in the Truth.
PRAY
As the Father to help you dig deeper in His Word to become firmly established.
