A time to every purpose under the heaven

To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:  (Ecclesiastes 3:1 KJV)

Solomon, the wise king of Israel, wrote the words above saying there is a season and a time to every purpose under heaven. He goes down and lists a few things to illustrate what he means:

A time to be born, and a time to die; A time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; A time to kill, and a time to heal; A time to break down, and a time to build up; A time to weep, and a time to laugh; A time to mourn, and a time to dance…” (Ecclesiastes 3:2–4 KJV)

He teaches us a profound spiritual truth that there is a time to do the things we do in our every day life. In other words, we should not be indiscrete in the way we do things. There is a time to do things if we want to get the best results. Planting is wonderful, but there is a time not to plant but to pluck up. It is our responsibility to know which is which.

Wisdom teaches us what we ought to do at every given point in time. Did you ever wonder why Jesus put His hands on some people to heal them and spoke to others? It is not random. Imagine if He was putting His hands on everyone, since God had already healed someone before He laid His hands on them. Sadly, many of us walk with God this way. In our immaturity, we fail to know what has to be done at what time in our lives, whether financial, family, ministry, etc.

MEDITATE

Ponder and mutter the main verse above as you reflect on what it means.

APPLY THE WORD

I will not fail to repeat this to you a billion times. The Lord delights in wisdom. He longs to see us grow to know His ways. Think of what our lives will look like if only we know what we ought to do now to grow our money, or become more healthy, win more souls, etc. There is a time and a season for everything and we often fail to see the opportunities before us. Crave wisdom.

PRAY

Ask the Father for a baptism of divine wisdom to know the times and seasons in your own life.

What does God want His people to do now?

We are living in a season of heightened spiritual activity and the Spirit is calling the church to MATURITY. This is a call to the WORD, for the WORD is Holy Spirit’s tool to bring us to Maturity. It is pathetic how so many of God’s beloved children are like ships on a seas tossed to and fro by the wind without any solid foundation on the Truth. As I have taught before, miracles are wonderful and we need them. However, MIRACLES will NEVER produce spiritual maturity in themselves. As a matter of fact, God did not design Miracles to bring the Church to maturity!

I cannot emphasize the importance of every believer learning to feed on the Word of God, understanding it, believing what it says and then surrendering to allow it transform our hearts and lives. Oh, how the Spirit is yearning for us to come to this place!

I have created the Inductive Bible Study Method Course for this same purpose. Learn to study the Word of God and apply it to your life.
