For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. (Rom. 8:2)

A “higher life” is God’s design for every believer. The term higher, implies there is a “lower life”. This is not with respect to the lower animal life forms we have today. It is all about the life we as humans here on the earth. There is a “lower life”  and a “higher life”. God initially made man to live a higher life, above the control of the forces of nature. After the fall, and until Jesus came, man has been living a lower life, not different from that of any other animal, which is subject to the forces of nature, such as disease, fear, lack and need.

Our scripture for the day tells us that the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set us from the law of sin and death. The law of sin and death states that the wages of sin is death so everyone who sins must die. The law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus essentially says “whoever believes in Christ shall not die but have everlasting life”. The law of the Spirit is a higher law, and so prevails.

So the life we live now depends on which laws are at work. You can live a life where the laws of nature are in operation, which govern ordinary man’s life. Or you have the option as a believer, which is your blessing, to set in motion the law of the Spirit in Christ Jesus by faith in His Word. When those around you say “things are getting bad economically” and there are no jobs, they are right, because that is the law that operates in the realm in which they live.  But that does not apply to you because there is another law operating in your finances where you live-which is in Christ. If you live where the natural men live, you will be under the same law that governs them. Hence the Lord tells us to walk in the Spirit, and not in the flesh.  If we do not know who you are, we will be subject to the natural laws that govern the ordinary human life like anyone else. God said “they know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course. I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High. But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes (Ps. 82:5-7).

You see again, our destruction as God’s children comes from our ignorance of God’s Word. You have the choice as a believer to choose what law will operate in your life. Revelation and faith set in motion a higher law in your life that lifts you above the natural laws that govern the health, finances, relationships, etc, of natural men. Go for the higher life-it is real.

MEDITATE

The Word in your  mind and mouth (1 Tim 4:15; Josh 1: 8)

Ponder and mutter our main scripture above. Is there a natural law that is taking you captive?

PRAY

Water the Seed( word) to grow. Invite the Spirit’s strength! (Isa 32:15; Zach 4:6)

Pray and ask the Lord to show you all areas in your life that need to be upgraded from the old and lower life to the higher life in Christ.

APPLY THE WORD TODAY!

Your door to a blessed life today is doing God’s Word. Refuse to be a hearer or reader only! (James 1:22-26)

Act on God’s Word today! Put His Word to work.  Natural men burst out in anger when offended, but the higher life has self-control and shows love! Natural men are seized with fear of what is happening in the world today but the higher life gives you the assurance that God is with you and therefore brings peace in the midst of the storms.Choose to live life from heaven, and not from here. This higher life is yours. Be intentional about it today, act God’s way, no matter the circumstances you encounter and see God’s results.
