“Charitooed” in Christ by God’s favor
To the praise of the glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on us in the Beloved. (Eph. 1:6 NAS)
The phrase “freely bestowed” is translated from the original Greek verb “charitoo”. Charitoo describes an action taken by the Father. It means “to bestow favor”, freely and lavishly! It describes a past event in this verse. Divine favor has already been poured out upon us. We are already “charitooed” in Christ!
In His favor, the Lord has already accepted us in Christ, pouring out unconditional love upon us. He has extended His goodness and kindness to us by the things He has already done, and continues to do. He shows us goodness, and we receive and experience His goodness. Divine favor, to us, is an experience of God’s goodness. It is palpable. It is not merely a feeling. Favor shows up as beauty, joy, and praise in our lives. We receive grace upon grace (Jn. 1:16), goodness upon goodness. His favor touches every aspect of our lives, spiritual and physical. All that is left is for you is to receive that favor by faith. You have found favor with God because of Christ! (Lk. 1:30).
MEDITATE
Ponder upon the reality that you have already found favor in the eyes of the Lord. Mutter it again that “I am highly favored. The Father has bestowed abundant favor upon me because of Christ”
PRAY
Thank the Lord for His abundant favor in Christ. Pray and ask the Holy Spirit to teach you how to receive this favor by faith in every aspect of your live.
APPLY THE WORD TODAY!
There is only one thing for us to do with God’s favor in Christ: receive it by faith! There is also one thing we must NOT DO: try to make God favor us by our own efforts. The hand that receives favor is faith. You have already received favor; that is why your sins are forgiven, and the Spirit was given to you. Being born again is already divine favor at work! Now activate that favor in your ministry, health, finances, and relationships!
