And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain (1 Ki. 18:41 KJV)
After a harsh season of famine for three and a half years, the prophet Elijah spoke in faith to king Ahab that “there is a sound of abundance of rain.” The land was still parched, and there were no favorable weather conditions to indicate that will be rain soon. However, Elijah had heard from God. He knew rain was coming.
The desert land of Palestine was entirely dependent on rain for the survival of the inhabitants. The presence or absence of rain in its season was a matter of life or death. Famine was a season of death. The fall of rain was indeed life from above, especially after a season of famine for three and a half years.
Rain symbolically represents the blessing of the LORD that comes down from heaven and makes the ground of men’s hearts and lives fertile and fruitful. When that rain falls, there is joy, peace, righteousness, healing, prosperity, etc. There is undoubtedly the sound of the abundance of rain in these days we are living in. There is going to be a move of God by His Spirit through His Word in these days, and nothing other than glory can adequately describe it.
Get excited about these days. Though the darkness is increasing around us so quickly, the light of the glory is shining brighter and brighter unto the perfect day. There is a sound of abundance of rain in the atmosphere!
What is the blessing of God that comes down from heaven symbolized as rain? ( Isa. 32:15, Isa. 55:10-11). Declare that “there is a sound of abundance of rain upon my life.”
APPLY THE WORD
Your future in Christ is brighter than your past. You might have experienced rain, but there is a sound of more in the atmosphere. Keep your hopes high. Do not be discouraged by the pressures you might be going through right now. Arise, shine!
Thank the LORD for the blessing of rain in any area of your life where there seems to be famine.
