Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. (John 6:53 KJV)
Deshen Dailywill go live in about 2 days as the new name for our daily devotionals. I began a series yesterday that will focus on the word Deshen and the essence of the devotional life. Let me discuss the mystery behind the idea of spiritual food. Jesus told the people that until they eat His flesh and drink His blood (as one does with food), they will not have life. As expected, the people were so offended that some of them stopped following Him. They did not understand what Jesus was referring to as His flesh and His blood. They took it literally.
When Jesus saw that His own disciples were also perplexed about this statement, He explained the real meaning of what He was saying:
“It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life” (John 6:63 KJV).
He told them that what He had called food in different ways in the 6th chapter of John (“Bread of life”, “Bread from heaven”, “My flesh”, “My blood”) was not physical food but the words He had spoken to them. And if His words are food, how then do you eat the words? The words are eaten by receiving and believing them. So, eating the flesh and drinking the blood of Jesus in essence meant believing in Him, that His body (flesh) was broken for us and His blood was shed for us to have life!
You eat the Word by knowing and believing it.

I want you to meditate (chew and swallow John 6:63) quoted in the devotional above! Meditation enables us to eat the Word. Go ahead and eat it!
APPLY THE WORD
You will read or hear me say “feed on the Word” many times. This is what I mean. It is not the same as reading or studying as I have taught before. Feed on the Word!
Ask the Spirit to help you feed on the Word and not merely read or study it.
