Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father; (1 Thessalonians 1:3 KJV)
Paul speaking to the Thessalonians told them he always remembers them. This verse is much more than the expression of Paul’s thoughts and memory of these believers. His words are an expression of the thoughts and feelings of the Lord Himself. Keep this important thought in your mind as you read-on further.
Please reread the verse above and note what he remembers about them. First, he remembers their work. Works matter to God. I have taught before about the two kinds of works: dead works and good works. Dead works refer to things we do in an effort to earn our salvation or favor with God. We are not saved by works (dead works). Good works refers to the works that are a result of the Spirit’s working in our lives (saved unto good works Ephesians 3:10).
Paul further characterizes these works as “work of faith”, “labor of love”, and “patience of hope”. The Lord knows the works that result from your faith in Him, whether in your personal life or in ministry. He knows the struggle and sacrifices you make out of love for Him and for others. He knows you are patiently bearing certain uncomfortable situations now knowing He will turn things around in the future as He has promised.
The Lord knows your works, and He remembers them. Keep moving forward.
What is an example of a work of faith? Do you have any work that is a result of your labor of love?
APPLY THE WORK
Works matter. They are very important to God. The Lord wants you to know that He does not only know your works but He remembers them. He knows the sacrifices you are making in your personal life or ministry for His Name. He knows you are putting up with so much to stay on the path of holiness and righteousness. Do not grow weary but continue!
mAsk the Father to strengthen you to continue bearing fruit for Him.
