I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty (Rev. 1:8 KJV)
Jesus spoke the words in our verse above: “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending.” He gives us the meaning of “Alpha and Omega” which are the first and last letters of the Greek Alphabet in the same verse with the words “ the beginning and the ending.” He is the beginning of all things, and also the ending. He does not have a beginning, but He is the beginning of all things. He does not have an end but He is the end of all things. He is Almighty God!
He created the seasons, the years, the months and the days but He lives outside of time. He operates in our lives in seasons. When the year begins, there is often enthusiasm, hope, excitement, decisions, etc. However, at the end of the year, the hopes and expectations of many are crushed. Your hope is not in the year but in the Almighty God who is the Alpha and the Omega. He will complete what He started in your life. His seasons in our lives do not necessarily coincide with the beginning and the end of the calendar year. This is so important for us to understand. The Lord, not the year, is your Hope and Expectation. It is not the year that brings good things to you but the Lord. The year might have come and gone but the Alpha and Omega is still there in you and with you!
Can you pick out three distinct qualities of God in our verse above?
APPLY THE WORD
The Lord wants you to know that your hope is in Him, and you can be sure He was there when it all started and will be there to see it when it wraps up! The Lord will ensure that you see the end of every challenge that has caused untold suffering in your life. He is the Omega, the One who specializes in bringing things to an end. He will bring that shame, fear, disease, demonic oppression, poverty etc to an end. What does He want you to do? Trust and rest in Him. Let Him be your focus, and everything else will take its place!
Take a moment to worship our wonderful Lord and tell Him how beautiful He is.
