And delivered him out of all his afflictions, and gave him favour and wisdom in the sight of Pharaoh king of Egypt; and he made him governor over Egypt and all his house (Acts 7:10, KJV)
We are in a privileged position before God in Christ. We stand on a platform of grace, that is, highly favored by God. It is essential to recognize that this divine favor did not end on the cross. It is an endless flow of favor that reaches everything about you, from your daily Christian walk, ministry, family to your finances and health. How does divine favor manifest in our lives?
We have an intriguing verse from the Old Testament about Joseph that squarely applies to us. It says God gave Joseph favor and wisdom in the sight of Pharaoh, and he made Joseph the governor over the entire land of Egypt. If you look at it superficially, many will assume that God gave Joseph two things: favor and then wisdom. However, that is not the case. The favor and the wisdom were not two separate things God gave to Joseph, but the same thing looked at from two different perspectives.
The favor that God gave Joseph was the wisdom He gave him! The wisdom was the favor! Do you see how God’s favor operates in your life? For example, the forgiveness of our sins in Christ is the favor God has shown us. Favor is tangible and not merely some good disposition God has for us.
God has given some of you special skills or abilities, natural or supernatural, like Joseph. That is already favor in your life because that gift will make a way for you to stand before kings! Recognize that and take advantage of the grace that is upon you in Christ!
Can you list the manifestations of God’s grace in your life in Christ? That is, what are the things you currently have, which are the proofs of God’s favor in your life?
APPLY THE WORD
If you fail to recognize God’s favor, you will not make use of it. Be sensitive. The Holy Spirit in your life is proof of God’s grace. God will also grace you with special abilities to create wealth, solve problems at your job, raise your family, build that ministry, etc. Recognize and put God’s grace to work in your life!
Bless the Lord for His wonderful favor He has bestowed upon you!
