In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you (John 14:2 KJV)
What are the mansions in the Father’s house Jesus was talking about above? He says He is going to prepare a place of us and He will come back in due time and receive us to Himself. Let me briefly tell you what those mansions are in this devotional.
As I always remind you, identifying figurative and symbolic language in the Bible is important. The “place”, “Father’s house” or “mansions” above are NOT physical buildings. God does not have some physical building in heaven He is living in, neither has He called angels to engage in a heavenly construction to build mansions for us to live in.
A house figuratively represents a dwelling place. We are God’s House, as Temples made without hands. However, there is another side to this truth many of us do not yet know. God is also a House for a human being to dwell in. Your mansions in heaven are not a physical building. That mansion is the Father Himself! If you read the entire chapter of John 14, it becomes immediately obvious Jesus is talking about the Father all along. You are dwelling in the Father now, and when Jesus returns, we will step into the fullness of partaking in the divine nature, where the Father is fully in us as His house and we are in Him as our House!
With the understanding in this verse, can you explain what it means that we are in Christ and Christ is in us?
APPLY THE WORD
You are already dwelling in God right now, but we are not yet in the fullness of that. Your home in God is not limited to a physical place. No matter where you are, God is there as your dwelling place. Be conscious of this new Home, a divine dwelling place!
Thank the Father for being your dwelling place now and in the season after Jesus returns.
