Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ (Philippians 1:6, KJV)
The Apostle Paul was confident about the truth that the God who started to work out good things in the lives of the Philippians will continue the work until He has completed it. Isn’t that good news for us?He does not start something good in our lives and leaves it uncompleted.
His greatest work in our lives now is the work of salvation. He began the work the day we received Jesus. Our spirit man received salvation. The work is not completed yet. He is continuing the good work of His grace by transforming us now by His Word and Spirit as our soul is being saved and brought to conform to the image of Christ. The work is still not completed— as yet. The day is coming when our bodies will be saved from corruption and we shall have our glorious bodies. He has saved us. He is saving us. And He will save us! What He started, He will finish!
The same is true in your life. If God gave you bread, He knows you need butter and He will complete the work He started! You may not have it all now, but that does not mean God is done with you.
Can you explain why it is often said Christ’s work is both finished and unfinished? I want you to read the verse above, think about it, and say it over and over to yourself a few times.
APPLY THE WORD
God is faithful. If He gave you a wife, He knows you need a job to take care of a family, so He is not yet done with you! Furthermore, He knows a wife means family, and He will continue giving children as you desire. And it continues. He is not a God of unfinished business! Stand on His Word!
Thank Him for completing every work He started in your life.
