He said to them, “Take to your heart all the words with which I am warning you today, which you shall command your sons to observe carefully, even all the words of this law. “For it is not an idle word for you; indeed it is your life… (Deuteronomy 32:46-47 )
Moses told the Israelites that the word of God he was giving to them was their life. This statement is as true today for us, and even more so than it was for the Jews who heard these words thousands of years ago. Many of them, like many who might be reading this devotional today, probably did not see what Moses was trying to communicate. The word of God, my life?” A major barrier we all have to overcome, intentionally, is to get to see God’s word the way He sees it. There is nothing that will impact a man’s life on earth that can even come close to the word of God. The issue is that we do not see it this way.
Do you know why we pay attention to our jobs or businesses? Because our financial lives depend on them. Why do we pay attention to our diet, exercise, and even our weights? Because these things will affect our health Why do we pay attention to our spouses and children etc? Because these things have a huge impact on our happiness.
What if God tells us that His word will impact our natural lives much more than all of the things we currently pay so much attention to? If believers will pay attention to receiving, meditation and doing God’s Word with the utmost attention, there will be a spiritual revolution on earth. We just do not seem to see God’s word the way He sees it, and therefore do not give it the first place in our lives it deserves.
Get quiet for a moment and ponder on these words “His word is your life”. Let it revolve around your mind. Do you see God’s word the way He sees it? Think of the current place God’s word has in your life. Secondary to something else?
It is time to water the seed of the word planted with the Water of the Spirit in prayer. We need God to open our eyes to see in His word what He actually sees.
Ask the Lord to open your eyes to begin to see His word as indeed your life-physical, spiritual and eternal. And believe it. It takes God to open our eyes to this.
