“I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and delivered Himself up for me. (Gal. 2:19 NAS)
It will definitely come as a surprise that many believers do not understand what Christianity really is from God’s perspective. First and foremost, Christianity is not a religion. Yes, you could classify it as a religion based on secular standards. To God, He had no intentions of giving to us a religion to follow.
Christianity is the expression of the life of Christ through a man or woman. It is God dwelling and living through a human being. It is captured in the verse above “Christ lives in me”. “Religion,” says love your neighbor, even if your heart harbors hatred. Just shape your behavior to love them. If for some reason you realize you cannot, just try your best. This is religion. It is attempting to obey divine commandments by our human strength. In Christianity, God recreates us and puts love inside of us, and then asks us to go show the world what is inside of us! It is like a man “telling” a butterfly to fly—no struggle for the butterfly, no trying, no stress! It is by its very nature. Religion, however, can be compared to a man telling a cat to bark like a dog! This poor cat will continue to struggle all through its life and will never succeed to bark like a dog!
Christ lives in you as a believer. That is your glory. If you struggle with the Christian life, you are probably trying to do things by your power. Surrender to the indwelling Christ and let Him begin to live through you today.
The Christ that lives through you is His Spirit and His Word. If the Word of God does not abide in you richly with the Spirit of God fully in control of your life, you will struggle with Christianity.Christianity is God in expression through Christ Jesus. Ponder upon these truths.
Many Christians still struggle with Christianity because the Christian life is still a religion to them. If you want to experience the full blessing of Christianity, grow in your intimate knowledge of Christ and start yielding to the Holy Spirit. If for some reason you have not yet known Jesus personally, this is how you get to meet with Him today!
Sincerely ask the Father to reveal to you the full measure of the Christian life the way He originally designed it.
