God Who Commanded the Light to Shine out of Darkness

For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ  (2 Cor. 4:6 KJV)

The Apostle Paul reminded the Corinthians of the credentials of Almighty God in the verse above. He said God, “who commanded the light to shine out of darkness.” He was calling to mind Genesis 1:3 which says  “And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.” God brought forth light by commanding it into being.

The LORD repeated Genesis 1:3 when Jesus, the Word of God, came into the world. He was the Light of God that shone on earth and discomfited darkness: “And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not” (Jn. 1:5 KJV). The Light of God from heaven crushed the darkness of sin, death, demonic activity, and human anguish.

God is commanding His light again today to shine forth in the midst of the darkness that is prevailing on the earth. Men’s hearts are failing them for fear of what is coming on the earth. Sin and satanic activity are increasing by the minute. There are economic and geopolitical fears and unrest. However, in the midst of all this darkness, God has commanded light to shine forth. This time, that light is you and me. You are the light of the world to dispel the darkness. Shine His character and His works in the midst of the darkness around you.

How did God shine His light in our hearts from the verse above? Declare that “I am the light of the world, bringing hope to a dying and desperate world.”

God did not ask us to go and try to be the light in the world. He says you are the light. All you need to do is shine!

Ask the LORD to help you shine His light in your world and glorify His Name.
