In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. (1 Thess. 5:18)

We  are spirit beings, and the course of our lives on earth is determined by the realm of the spirit far more than many of us realize. The state of your human spirit conditions what happens to your outward physical life. If there is unforgiveness and bitterness in a man’s  spirit, his  outward life will also be full of bitterness in everything he does, from his business to his physical health.  The scripture says “keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life” (Prov. 4:23 ). The state of your spirit will condition the atmosphere around your life. Have  your ever met someone  who seems to carry a negative and depressive atmosphere around him or her? Or others who seem to carry an atmosphere full of life around them?

A grateful and thankful spirit will change your life for ever. The scripture above says ” in everything” give thanks, not “for everything”. Do not thank God  for the evils in your life, because He is not the Author of those. But “in” those situation, learn to look for a reason to thank God and keep a grateful spirit. A grateful spirit releases life, joy and freedom from within you. A thankful spirit is a blessing  first to you, and not God.  It goes further to make your spirit open to receive from the Spirit of the Lord. If you are having some really serious relationship issues now with someone that makes you feel like hating  them with everything within you, choose to look for a reason in that individual or situation to give thanks to God.  Focus on it and see what happens. Do the Word and see God honor what He has said.  Your thankful spirit will create the spiritual atmosphere for miracles to occur.

Look for a reason to  give thanks to  God in everything. Actively look for it, if there seems to be none. There is always a reason to give thanks. A grateful spirit sets you up for miracles everyday. In the same light, run away from a complaining, ungrateful or bitter spirit. These will ruin your life. Those who complain and are ungrateful will always have something in their lives to complain about. The state of your  heart will determine the  spiritual atmosphere around you and determine the course of your life. Do the Word, and  give thanks  to the Lord in everything,  and live in His Word daily.

MEDITATE

The Word in your  mind and mouth ( 1 Tim 4:15;Josh 1: 8) 

God’s Word goes deeper in our lives and make a firm foundation by meditation. Ponder and mutter God’s Word. Meditate on the verse above. Give it time in your mind and mouth as you ponder upon it and confess it.

PRAY

Water the Seed( word) to grow. Invite the Spirit’s strength! ( Isa 32:15; Zach 4:6)

 Sincerely ask the Lord to remove every ungrateful spirit from within you. Pray that you will be able to see the reasons to give thanks in every situation. There is always a reason, we just do not  see it sometimes. In fact we sometimes choose not to see them.

APPLY THE WORD TODAY!

Your door to  a blessed life today is doing God’s Word. Refuse to be a hearer or reader only! ( James 1:22-26)

Act on God’s Word today. After reason this devotional, look at that situation, or that person  and see a reason to give thanks. Then go ahead to give thanks to the Lord. Maintain this attitude throughout the day, and every day. Then see how spiritual freedom begins to upwell from within you. See how your spirit begins to open up to the Spirit of the Lord.
