“He saith unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so” (Matt. 19:8 KJV).
Jesus was addressing a very sensitive and important topic with the Jews, who were questioning why Moses had permitted a man to divorce his wife. Jesus told them it was permitted because of the hardness or stubbornness of the people, but it was not the way God planned it from the beginning.
The same is true for everything about mankind on earth. God did not create man or the earth to be in the state we find ourselves. The grief, pain, suffering, and fears were not there from the beginning. In Genesis 1:1, the Bible records that God made heaven and earth. In Genesis 1:2, it says the earth was formless, worthless, empty, and useless. Something had to happen. Many of us feel a similar scenario inside of us. Some people start with a wonderful relationship and then suddenly it turns into a nightmare. But it was not so from the beginning. Satan and sin are the ruin of humanity. Jesus came to restore things to how they were in the beginning, and with much more.
