Fearfully and Wonderfully Made

I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well  (Ps. 139:14 KJV)

The Psalmist sums up the beauty of the creation of man in the verse above. He praises the LORD because he has come to know how fearfully and wonderfully he was made. We are the cream of His creation, and marvelous indeed are his works.

When you understand the beauty of the human body, its structure, and function,  you then realize the power and wisdom of God displayed in creating us. The world has been deceived to think we came out of chaos, but we know better. God fearfully and wonderfully created us.

The glory of God revealed in man has been marred by sin. The scripture says we have fallen short of the glory. This is why you sometimes look at some people and rather than seeing God, you see the works of Satan. The present unsaved human condition still has the stamp of Creator God but also bears the marks of sin and the devil. Many people make this mistake of thinking that everything we see in the world today, including how some people are born with defects and deformities is the work of God. No! We live in a broken world, and Christ came to free us from this present evil age.

The most exciting part of this scripture is not looking back at what we have lost from creation but realizing what God has done  in the recreation. The old creation is short of the glory of God. He has ushered an upgraded version of humanity, a heavenly kind indeed. The scripture says in Eph. 4:10 that we are His masterpiece, which far exceeds the wonders of the old creation. If you were fearfully and wonderfully made in Creation, you have been gloriously and divinely woven by God in Christ.

MEDITATE

Can you think of one part of your body and see how God carefully created you to reveal His beauty?

APPLY THE WORD

Praise the LORD, for great and marvelous are His works. His works are beautiful to behold. The present world is full of the works of the  devil. God has recreated us to display the excellencies and His works again.  Learn to see the beauty of God’s works in you, both in creation and redemption and praise Him for His wonderful works.

PRAY

Thank the Lord for creating and recreating us in Christ.
