Contend for your prayer life

Pray without ceasing. (1 Thess. 5:17 KJV)

God has commanded us to pray without ceasing. If you are living in this day and age, with the current pace of life, then you understand what this command means in the context of “modern life”. God does not evolve with culture. His Word remains sure to every generation. He has said to us, “pray without ceasing”.

Prayer should be a believer’s lifestyle. Above all else, prayer is fellowshipping with the Father. It is not a mere spiritual tool to ask and receive answers from God. In prayer, we commune with God through His Spirit. Our hearts are renewed and refreshed. We are energized, infused with wisdom and strength to face any circumstances that come our way. We have the opportunity to talk to God and listen to Him talk to us. If Satan wants to ruin a believer’s life, he will usually attempt to ruin their fellowship with God in prayer and His Word. As we stay away, we wither like a branch cut off from a tree. The things that were disgusting to us before might start appearing appealing because the fire is wearing off. We gradually get cold and black like pieces of coal removed from the burning furnace and left aside to get cold.

Contend for your prayer life! Raise your personal altar and refuse to let it crash. Let it stand against all the odds of your busy, busy schedule. You will quickly find that life with divine power working in your favor is far superior to trying to fix things yourself while neglecting your relationship with God. Ask the Father to show you what to do with your specific situation so that you can pray without ceasing as He commands.

MEDITATE

The Word in your mind and mouth (1 Tim 4:15; Josh 1: 8)

Think deeply on the command above. What does it mean to you?  What is God saying to you regarding your prayer life today? Are you facing a true time issue, or it is a priority issue? Can you see yourself praying without ceasing?

PRAY

Water the Seed (word) to grow. Invite the Spirit’s strength! (Isa 32:15; Zach 4:6)

Pray that the Father will grant you a  desire and hunger for His presence. It is great foolishness on our part to only pray when we are facing a crisis. Ask God for wisdom to seek Him consistently, so that your life will be a continual stream of victory and success.

APPLY THE WORD TODAY!

Your door to a blessed life today is doing God’s Word. Refuse to be a hearer or reader only! (James 1:22-26)

What will you do with the scripture and the devotional above? Do not just read, but act on God’s Word.  Make plans right now to pray. Make it a routine. Pray daily for the next 7 days and see what happens to your life!
